The power distribution companies (Discos) have approached the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) for a reduction in the electricity prices following a drop in the capacity charges, which has brightened up the prospects for a reduction in the power tariff for consumers, including those of Karachi Electric (K-Electric), under the quarterly adjustment, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Discos on Tuesday filed a petition in the NEPRA for passing on a relief of Rs53.393 billion to consumers.
The NEPRA will hear the petition on August 4.
The power tariff had been reduced by Rs1.55 per unit in the last financial year’s (FY) third quarterly adjustment.
