Balochistan cabinet approves university status, scholarships and child protection rules

The Balochistan cabinet has approved several administrative, educational and development measures, including university status for Taamir-i-Nau School and College, scholarships through the Workers Welfare Board and new child protection rules.

Provincial Minister Mir Zahoor Ahmed Buledi, addressing a press conference alongside Home Minister Mir Ziaullah Langove, Minister Mir Shoaib Noshirwani and Sports Adviser Mina Majeed, said the cabinet considered 26 agenda items during a meeting chaired by Balochistan Chief Minister.

He said the meeting began with prayers for those martyred in terrorist incidents across the province, while the cabinet also paid tribute to their sacrifices.

Buledi said the cabinet approved scholarships through the Workers Welfare Board and granted university status to Taamir-i-Nau School and College. It also approved changes to the Balochistan Cadet Colleges Board, which oversees 11 cadet colleges in the province.

The cabinet also issued a planning manual, approved child protection rules and authorised the creation of a new tehsil in Balochistan, he added.

Buledi said the confusion over the classification of “A” and “B” areas in the province had been eliminated.

Regarding the Harnai-Sibi Road project, he said the federal government would provide Rs15 billion, while the remaining cost would be borne by the provincial government.

The minister said the government was making efforts to improve the law and order situation, stressing that extraordinary measures were needed to restore normalcy in Balochistan.

He said security forces had achieved significant success in Shaban and expressed confidence that terrorist networks operating in the province would be dismantled.

Home Minister Mir Ziaullah Langove said the families of those martyred in Ziarat had not demanded the restoration of the Levies force.

He also said installations set up in Quetta under the Safe City Project had been damaged during strikes.

Responding to political questions, Buledi said the National Party had stated through a press release that it would not join the government. He added that Dr Malik Baloch had not expressed a desire to become chief minister.

Buledi said the political and security situation in Balochistan needed to be understood in the context of recent events and developments in the province.
