Faizan Sheikh names actors who can revive Pakistani cinema
Pakistani actor Faizan Sheikh believes superstars Fawad Khan and Humayun Saeed need to take on more film projects to help revive the country's cinema industry.
Faizan said only a handful of actors currently have the star power to draw the audience to theatres.
He noted that Pakistan produces only around 10 films a year and reasoned that increasing the number of projects featuring established stars would encourage more people to return to cinemas.
According to Faizan, if actors like Fawad Khan and Humayun Saeed were to appear in three or four films each year, cinema attendance would rise, helping the industry flourish and eventually creating more opportunities for emerging talent.
He described the process as a cycle, explaining that a stronger box office would lead to more film productions, ultimately benefiting both established stars and newcomers.
Fawad Khan is regarded as one of Pakistan's biggest film stars, with acclaimed projects including Khuda Kay Liye, The Legend of Maula Jatt and The Superstar.
Humayun Saeed, meanwhile, has delivered major box-office successes such as Punjab Nahi Jaungi, Jawani Phir Nahi Ani and Love Guru, while also playing a key role in producing and promoting Pakistani cinema and drama industry.
