Railways Minister Abbasi begins Türkiye visit to advance modern railway cooperation

Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi has departed for a two-day official visit to Türkiye, aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation in the railway, transport, and infrastructure sectors, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.

During the visit, the minister will hold an important meeting with Türkiye's Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu . The two sides will discuss ways to expand collaboration in railway development, transport connectivity, infrastructure, and the adoption of modern technologies.

A high-level meeting of delegations, jointly chaired by the two ministers, will also take place to review ongoing cooperation and explore new opportunities for joint projects and strategic partnerships between Pakistan and Türkiye.

As part of his visit, the Federal Minister for Railways will inspect Türkiye's advanced railway monitoring, operational control, and safety systems. He is also scheduled to visit modern railway technology centres, as well as coach and locomotive manufacturing and production facilities.

The discussions will focus on enhancing cooperation in modern railway technology, signalling systems, digitalisation, and infrastructure development. Pakistan aims to benefit from Türkiye's expertise to improve operational efficiency, modernise railway services, and provide better facilities for passengers.

The visit will also explore collaboration in coach and locomotive manufacturing to strengthen Pakistan Railways' local production capacity. Both sides are expected to discuss investment opportunities for Turkish companies in Pakistan Railways' development projects, technology transfer, and future joint ventures.

In addition, the minister will review Türkiye's modern urban and high-speed rail systems to gain insights that could support the planning and development of similar projects in Pakistan.

The visit is expected to contribute significantly to the government's vision of transforming Pakistan Railways into a modern, safe, efficient, digitally advanced, and passenger-friendly railway system that meets international standards.
