Charlize Theron slams celebrity dating scene: “Every guy’s a CEO of nothing”

Hollywood A-lister Charlize Theron has offered a refreshingly candid glimpse into her short-lived foray into the world of online dating — and let’s just say, she’s not impressed.

During a recent appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Theron confirmed she had indeed tried the elite dating app Raya, often dubbed “Tinder for famous people,” following her breakup with model Alex Dimitrijevic after nearly two years together. But her verdict? A hard pass.

“I am [on it],” Theron told Cohen, before quickly adding, “But I don’t do anything with it.” She revealed that a friend signed her up, and while she gave it a try, she went on just two dates before calling it quits.

Why the quick exit? According to Charlize, the app felt like a parody of itself. “Every week it's — every guy has a Burning Man picture. And they're, like, a CEO... of nothing,” she said with a deadpan delivery that had Cohen cracking up. “And they’re all into fitness,” she added, unimpressed. Cohen jumped in with his own jab: “Or a creative director of nothing.”

Theron doesn’t shy away from confrontation either. “You meet with them, and they’re not [what they claim]. I just say it up front: ‘Why did you put that on your thing?’ No, I don’t like it,” she concluded.

Though she’s never tied the knot, Theron has had a few notable relationships in the past, including with actors Craig Bierko, Stuart Townsend, and Sean Penn. But these days, the Mad Max: Fury Road star is more focused on motherhood and her philanthropic work. She's mom to Jackson, 12, and August, 9 — both adopted from South Africa — and heads the Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project, a nonprofit she launched in 2007 to support youth across the continent.

Speaking about her foundation in a past interview, Theron shared that it's the resilience of the African youth she works with that fuels her purpose. “Some of these young people have survived so much… If they can have that fire in their belly living in these circumstances, then goddammit, we should have a tenth of that.”

While she may be swiping left on love for now, it’s clear that Charlize Theron has both feet planted firmly on the ground — and her priorities in the right place.
