Gujranwala's gangster killed in police encounter

A dangerous criminal involved in over 40 serious cases was shot dead in an alleged police encounter near Kohlo Wala, in the Sadar Police Station limits, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Sunday.

Police sources said the CCD team had established a checkpoint near Kohlo Wala when suspicious suspects on two motorcycles approached. Upon being signalled to stop, the suspects opened fire on the police.

In the ensuing crossfire, the notorious robber Habib was killed—ironically, by bullets allegedly fired by his own accomplices.

Police report that the deceased criminal was wanted for multiple robberies and armed assaults in Gujranwala, Sialkot, and Sheikhupura. 

His body has been shifted for post-mortem, and a search is underway for the fleeing suspects.

Authorities say Habib was on their radar for a long time due to his involvement in high-profile criminal activities across Punjab.
