Pakistan women suffer record 8-0 defeat to Chinese Taipei in AFC Women’s Asian Cup qualifiers

The Pakistan women’s football team suffered the worst defeat in its history, losing 8-0 to Chinese Taipei in their AFC Women’s Asian Cup Qualifiers campaign in Indonesia, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Sunday.

Despite featuring nine overseas-based players, the national team failed to mount any significant resistance against the well-organised Chinese Taipei side.

The heavy defeat has now been marked as the worst loss ever recorded by Pakistan’s women’s football team in international competition.

Only two local players were allowed to feature in the match, highlighting a continued reliance on foreign-based talent.

Pakistan's next match in the qualifiers is scheduled for July 2 against hosts Indonesia, where the team will look to bounce back and restore some pride.

However, the road ahead appears challenging given the off-field issues that continue to plague the team.

It is reported that the women's team has yet to receive dues from previous tours, including those to Singapore and Saudi Arabia.

This financial neglect has been a recurring theme in Pakistan’s footballing structure, severely affecting morale and overall performance.
