Three more polio cases surface in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, tally rises to 18

Three more polio cases were confirmed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Sunday.
According to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Emergency Operation Centre (EOC), the latest polio cases have been reported in Karak, Lakki Marwat and Tank districts of the province. Poliovirus has affected a six-month-old boy in Karak, a nine-month-old girl in Lakki Marwat and a 19-month-old boy in Tank.
According to the EOC, these children were not administered polio drops and now poliovirus has been confirmed in their bodies. The three new cases have taken the number of polio cases in the province so far to 18.
EOC Coordinator Abdul Basit has said that polio vaccine is safe in every respect. He said the government was committed to eradicating polio from the province despite challenges. He said the government needed cooperation from parents and all segments of the society to eradicate the crippling virus from the province.
