Outrage after six school children die in Khairpur van collision

Six motorcyclists, all of them schoolchildren, crushed to death when a van rammed into them in Khairpur, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The horrific traffic accident also injured two people. The incident took place on Mehran Highway near Kot Lalu, Khairpur when an over-speeding van ran over two motorbikes on which the boys were on their way to school, killing students right at the spot while another succumbed to injuries at the hospital.
Family members and friends of deceased students blocked the Mehran Highway to protest against the traffic incident. Mehran Highway extends from Khairpur to Nawabshah. The protesters are demanding to take legal action against the owner of Al-Murtaza Van Service, the TV channel reported.
The killed boys were between nine to fifteen years of age and their bodies have been handed over to their relatives.
Police arrested the van driver over his negligence and shifted him to a nearby police station, the media reports added.
The Chief Minister House of Sindh said in a tweet that the families of the killed students are being contacted and the local top officials will visit the families for help and condolence.

The chief minister also sought a report from the relevant authorities about the cause of frequent road accidents on the highway where Monday's crash happened.
