In the latest development, Balochistan High Court Chief Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail was tested positive for the virus, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Friday.
Soon after receiving the test results, the chief justice self-isolated himself at his house, as the virus was found in his eight family members too.
Earlier on Thursday, another doctor died of COVID-19 in Quetta where the healthcare professionals have been protesting against the government over the shortage of personnel care equipment (PPE).
The latest victim, Dr Zubair Ahmed, was performing his duties at the trauma centre in Bolan Medical Complex Hospital.
Few days back, the doctor had started showing the coronavirus symptoms after which he was admitted in the Fatima Jinnah Hospital where he breathed his last.
It is worth recalling that the healthcare professionals had even faced baton charge and arrests when they staged a protest in Quetta over the PPE issue on April 6, but there has been very little improvement as several doctors and paramedics have contracted the virus since then.
