Mazari to head body on women prisoners
Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday constituted a committee to look after women prisoners across the country.
Minister for Human Rights Shireen Mazari will head the body consisting of secretaries of ministries of human rights, interior, provincial home department s as well as GB Prisons IG and Justice Project Pakistan executive director.

The committee is mandated to suggest a comprehensive and workable system of governance in prisons to solve the problems of women inmates.
It will ensure availability of gender-specific services for women prisoners to address physical, psychological, emotional and sociological matters.
It will review prison rules and other relevant laws with a view to suggesting gender specific changes in order to bring improvements for women inmates. It will also work for betterment of children of jailed women including children’s education and social integration.
The body will make sure steps to help the women after jail term. The committee will submit report and suggestions in four months.
