PTI Chairman calls for judicial inquiry on May 9 riots, vandalism

 Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has urged the government “not destroy the country” in trying to keep him out of politics, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Sunday.  

Addressing to his supporters via video link from his Zaman Park residence in Lahore, he said the government made living difficult for the people whose lives and deaths are in Pakistan.

He asked the government to break away as many party members for the next three to four weeks but announce elections afterward.

Imran Khan also called for the release of innocent political workers. He claimed that a list of 23,000 party workers has been drawn up, adding that over 10,000 were in prison.

PTI Chairman called for contempt proceedings against police officials who are not following court orders such as producing anchorperson Imran Riaz.

Former prime minister Imran Khan appealed to the apex court for a judicial inquiry over the May 9 riots to determine who was responsible for the vandalism and burning.

“But side by side, 25 people were martyred by straight firing and hundreds were shot. Where in the world are peaceful protests shot at and then there is no investigation.”

“Our fundamental rights are being “violated every day and we are seeing no judiciary which can protect our rights,” he lamented.

Imran Khan appealed to 15 SC judges on behalf of the nation that the entire country is looking towards you. “History will remember your role”.

The former premier claimed that those leaving the party have been threatened and pressured to do so.

Regaling the alleged mistreatment of female PTI workers and supporters on May 25, 2022, party chief Imran Khan claimed that he was now sure it was part of a “plan to depoliticize women”

He said that he has no doubt remaining about the alleged mistreatment of female PTI supporters and workers after Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah’s press conference shortly after midnight.

“Whatever he said, it means two things: either they’re afraid that the females will tell about their treatment when they’re released from jails and they’ve (government) prepared for that or they’re afraid that something has happened which they can’t control and they’re afraid that if it somehow leaks so they’ve planned beforehand as if it was some big scheme of the PTI.”
