Aliya Hamza not to 'head' PTI Punjab review committee

As the PTI is undergoing organizational restructuring in Punjab, sources have rejected reports that former prime minister and PTI founder Imran Khan has nominated Aliya Hamza as head of the review committee, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.

Sources told the 24News TV channel that the party leaders, who met with Imran at Adiala Jail, Rawalpindi, had urged him to abolish the committee, which is tasked with the party’s reorganization in the province. 

But the latter, instead, directed them to include more members in it, sources said, adding that he directed them to include all four provincial heads of the party in the committee.    

The reason, sources elaborated, for Aliya not heading the committee was that she was junior to the other PTI leaders and could not lead them, and that she would only be a member of the committee. 

Earlier, it had been reported that while expressing dissatisfaction with the four-member review committee formed in Punjab, Imran had ordered the reissuance of the notification for the formation of the committee.  

It was reported that in a message sent to the party leadership through Barrister Ali Zafar, the PTI founder had said that Aliya Hamza would lead the committee. 

The committee comprises Salman Akram Raja, Omar Ayub, Ahmad Khan Bachar and Usman Akram.
