Law and Justice Commission meets under chair of CJP
Law and Justice Commission was held on Thursday under the chair Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Yahya Afridi, reported 24NewsHDTV Channel.
Advocates Khawaja Haris, Fazlul Haq Abbasi, Kamran Murtaza, Advocates Munir Paracha and Ahmed Khattak also attended the meeting.
According to official declaration, an advisory committee was also formed during the meeting. The committee will be headed by the Secretary, Ministry of Law and Justice. The committee will include Khawaja Haris, Muhammad Munir Paracha and Kamran Murtaza. The committee will identify important issues for review of the laws within a month. Public opinion and stakeholder involvement will also be ensured.
ON the occasion, the Chief Justice informed the participants about the important changes in the composition of the Commission.
In the past, the non-official members of the Commission were retired judges of the higher judiciary but on the directives of Chief Justice of Pakistan, non-official representatives of the legal community have also been included.
The Chief Justice stressed on holding regular meetings to make the commission active. The CJP also suggested the involvement of research associates along with the research team.
The aim of the meeting was to develop an effective mechanism for reviewing laws.
