Shakira creates history on 'Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran' tour

Shakira has officially cemented her legacy in Latin music history with her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran tour becoming the highest-grossing Latin American concert tour by a female artist.

The Colombian superstar, 48, has grossed a staggering $130 million (£96 million) from just 21 shows across Mexico and South America, surpassing fellow Colombian singer Karol G’s Mañana Será Bonito tour, which earned $125 million (£92 million) over 29 shows.

According to Billboard, Shakira is also the only Latin artist to break into the Top 10 of the 2025 Midyear Boxscore Report, securing the No. 2 spot globally — an unprecedented feat for a Latin female performer.

Despite her historic success, the tour hasn’t been without hiccups. Last week, during a performance of her iconic 2001 hit Whenever, Wherever at Montreal’s Bell Centre, Shakira took a tumble on stage. A fan-captured video showed the three-time Grammy winner slipping and falling sideways mid-performance. But true to form, the Hips Don’t Lie hitmaker bounced back instantly, brushing off the incident and continuing the set with full energy.

Fans on social media praised her professionalism and resilience. “Shakira handled it like the boss that she is,” wrote one user on X. Another added, “Hope she didn’t get injured. Such falls cause pains and injuries the next morning.”

The fall is just one of several challenges faced during the tour. Earlier this month, her May 15 show at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey prompted a health advisory from the state’s Department of Health after a possible measles exposure was reported. Officials warned that attendees of the concert could develop symptoms as late as June 6.

Despite the setbacks, Shakira's tour continues to break barriers and redefine success for Latin artists. Her record-breaking run reflects not only her enduring star power but also the global appetite for Latin music led by powerful female voices.
