Even before winter sets in, Karachi in throes of gas shortage
24-hour gas supply shutdown to Sindh, Balochistan CNG stations from Sunday

Even before the advent of winter season, the gas pressure in the industrial areas of Karachi has come to zero Pounds/Square Inch (PSI), reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Reportedly, on Friday the gas pressure in the biggest industrial zone of Karachi i.e. Site Area was recorded 0 PSI. The big industrialists have started running their boilers with furnace oil. While due to non-availability of gas to other industries, the production process has been affected.
The industrialists have called upon the government and Sui Southern Gas (SSG) to ensure the availability of gas to the industries.
On the other hand, gas shortage has aggravated in Sindh and Balochistan. The Sui Southern Gas has decided to observe a 24-hour shutdown of gas at all CNG stations.
The SSG has decided to close all CNG stations in Sindh and Balochistan from Sunday 8am till Monday 8am. The gas authority said that the decision was taken to cater to the need of domestic gas consumers.
