PBC for withdrawal of notices to Faisal Ch, Babar Awan in contempt case

October 29, 2022 07:07 PM

Regretting that notices were issued to PTI’s Babar Awan and Faisal Chaudhry Advocate in the contempt of court case against former prime minister and PTI Chairman Imran Khan in the Supreme Court (SC), Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) on Saturday demanded withdrawal of these notices, saying issuance of notices to them made no sense since they were not parties to the case, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The PBC, in its declaration, said it was unfortunate that notices were issued to both the lawyers on the government’s request. “Truth of the matter is that both Chaudhry and Awan had not given any assurance that the PTI’s long march would not enter Islamabad’s Red Zone on May 25, 2022,” read the declaration.

It was further stated that the entire legal fraternity of the country was concerned about the independence of the Bar.
