Millions of rupees graft detected in Sui Southern Gas Company

Corruption of millions of rupees has been detected in Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC), reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.

According to details, for the first time in the history of the SSGC, a 60-kilometer-long pipeline has disappeared from Dera Bugti.

The contractor had been given 72-kilometer-long pipeline; however, he laid down only 12 kilometers of it, while its remaining part was stolen.

And despite the fact that the pipeline had disappeared, the contractor still had the audacity to send the bill to the company.

Four officers were found guilty after over a year-long inquiry. 

However, the company sacked the most junior officer; a grade 5 officer, while spared the rest.

Despite the fact that the SSGC Board time and again directed the management to compile an inquiry report, the latter had to still complete it.

It was after the Board gave a last warning to the management that the latter swung into action and fired a junior officer; however, it continues to save senior officers till this day.

As per the inquiry team, the disappearance of the pipeline was in the knowledge of the DMD. However, his opinion was that these were residents of the area who had stolen it.

The Finance Department had sent the matter to the internal audit, which sent it back saying it was an administrative matter.

Besides that, the high-ups ignored the recommendation made by the chief engineer for an action against the contractor.
