Pakistan Railways cancels newly issued winter timetable after operational delays

Pakistan Railways has cancelled its recently issued winter timetable after widespread operational delays and difficulties in maintaining train schedules across the country, 24NewsHD TV reported on Wednesday.

According to an official notification, the decision affects all major divisions, including Karachi, Sukkur, Multan, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, and Quetta.

The department has directed that trains be operated under the previous timetable, which was effective from April to October.

Sources within the department revealed that railway officers and staff had failed to ensure timely operations under the new schedule.

Following the enforcement of the winter timetable, train movement was severely affected due to engineering restrictions and signal problems, resulting in hours-long delays.

The notification further stated that the winter timetable will remain suspended until improvements are made in engineering constraints and signal systems, after which a revised schedule may be reintroduced.
