Former prime minister and senior PPP leader Yousaf Raza Gilani on Tuesday said they were not afraid of NAB, with a warning that the leaderless movement against the government would be dangerous for the rulers, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Given the level of disappointment among the people, it’s the time for taking a decision, he told media persons in Karachi. If things can be improved in the country by sacrificing them then it isn’t a problem, the senior PPP leader said.
Arrest wasn’t an issue, Gilani said and remarked that he had been in habit of going to prison which was his second home. The movement would continue even if the entire leadership of opposition parties was arrested, he said.
Gilani had appeared before a court in connection with the 26 cases related to Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) registered against him and others. However, November 10 was fixed as the next date for hearing as no proceedings were held Tuesday due to the absence of defence counsel Farooq H Naek.
Replying to different questions, Gilani said resigning from the assemblies was the last option. However, nothing could be said at the current stage as the opposition leadership might go for any decision, he added.
The former prime minister reminded the media persons that there was no political prisoner during his tenure. He freed the judges and that was the way forward for the country’s development, Gilani stressed.
