JAAC miscreants attack peace rally in Muzafarabad; one dead, 11 injured

A peace rally organized by the Muslim Conference in Muzaffarabad on Monday came under attack when armed miscreants of the Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) opened fire, injuring 11 civilians. 

According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, in a tragic turn, an elderly man, Muhammad Sadiq, lost his life in Battal after miscreants blocked an ambulance’s passage.

Meanwhile, a complete shutdown and wheel-jam strike is being observed across Azad Kashmir on the call of the JAAC. 

Authorities have also suspended internet and mobile services, while even landline phones remain shut down in all districts. Hospitals across the region have declared a state of emergency.

According to sources, JAAC’s armed groups, frustrated by the failure of their protest, turned their anger towards the public. 

The confrontation escalated when JAAC protesters clashed with participants of the Muslim Conference’s peace march in Muzaffarabad.

Reports further revealed that JAAC miscreants attacked police with slingshots and weapons, exposing their violent intentions. 

The presence of proclaimed offenders within the JAAC rally has also been observed. Law enforcement agencies have initiated legal action against the miscreants and their leaders.

The strike has left shops, markets, and public transport closed, with streets appearing deserted. The business community and daily wage workers have been severely affected, with livelihoods brought to a standstill.

Suspension of mobile and internet services in Muzaffarabad and adjoining areas has caused major disruptions. Students and the business sector have expressed growing frustration, citing communication blackouts as a serious hindrance.
