PTI challenges Sindh LG (Amend) Act in SHC

The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf has challenged the Sindh Local Government Amendment Bill, 2021 in the Sindh High Court, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Opposition leader in Sindh Assembly Halim Adil Sheikh and MPA Khurram Sher Zaman on Friday submitted the petition in which Sindh chief secretary, Sindh Assembly speaker, chief election commissioner and secretaries of local government and law were made party. 

The petition stated that the Amended LG Act, 2021 was against articles 140, 32, 17, 8, 7-A of the Constitution.

According to the constitution, it is mandatory to devolve all authority to the lower tier, the petition stated adding that the amended LG Act was against the constitution, therefore it should be declared null and void.
