Election Commission of Pakistan has rejected an application submitted by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) urging the ECP to remove four election symbols from its list as it resembles with the party’s Tiger emblem, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday, quoting its sources.

The PML-N had asked the ECP to drop four election symbols – bear, deer, cow and goat – from its list as they resembled with the party’s symbol.

The PML-N in its application argued that its voters would face difficulties on voting day due to these election symbols.

According to the sources, the ECP has decided not to remove these four election symbols from its list, declaring PML-N’s objections to these four symbols as inappropriate.

The ECP remarked that these four animals are quite different from each other in their appearance; therefore, it rejected the PML-N objections after declaring them inapt.

It may be mentioned here that in April 2012 the PML-N had also urged the ECP not to allocate ‘cat’ as an election symbol to any political party/candidate due to its resemblance to the party’s own tiger emblem.
