The federal government has decided not to give relief on the prices of sugar, flour and ghee at the utility stores during the Ramadan relief package, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.

According to sources, the Utility Stores Corporation has announced the Ramzan relief package 2024 worth Rs7.49 billion. However, in this enormous package, citizens will be deprived of more relief on three basic items including Sugar, Ghee and wheat flour.

Under the Ramadan package, the current prices of sugar, flour and ghee will remain unchanged.

The sources said that the price of sugar per kg for Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) consumers will remain at Rs 109.

Similarly, the price of a 10-kilogram bag of flour will stand firm at Rs 648 across utility stores nationwide.

Additionally, the cost of ghee per kilogram will remain steady at Rs 365 throughout the holy month of Ramadan.

Officials assert that the prices of sugar, flour, and ghee are already subsidized for BISP customers, justifying the government's decision not to further reduce prices due to existing subsidies.

In a noteworthy adjustment, the implementation of the Ramadan package on utility stores will commence from March 5 instead of the initially scheduled March 4.
