‘Estranged’ Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) leader Jahangir Khan Tareen on Monday said he had no contact either with Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) or Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Talking to the media men outside a banking court in Lahore, Jahangir Tareen said he and members of his group wanted a transparent inquiry into his cases.

He said one of his cases whose investigation Prime Minister Imran Khan had assigned to Barrister Ali Zafar had nothing to do with money laundering.

“The prime minister had assured that my concerns will be addressed,” he added.

Talking about his case, the ‘estranged’ PTI leader said it was not a ‘criminal’ case at all, and the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had no role in it. “This case pertains to my business dealings and there was no mention of the public or secret fund in it,” he explained.

Tareen said he had been facing inquiry for the past year and had attended 78 hearings so far.

At the same time, however, he dispelled the impression that he and members of his group wanted the withdrawal of cases filed against him. “I have never evaded accountability,” he said categorically.

Responding to a query about Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi’s remarks about him, the PTI leader said he would not like to comment on them.

Bail extended until May 19

The banking court on Monday extended the interim bail granted to PTI leader Jahangir Khan Tareen and his son Ali Tareen.

Earlier, Jahangir Khan Tareen was accompanied to the court by two Punjab ministers Nauman Langrial and Ajmal Cheema, advisers to Punjab CM Usman Buzdar namely Abdul Hayyee Dasti, Rafaqat Gilani, Ameer Khan, members of Punjab Assembly Khurrum Laghari, Aslam Bharwana, Nazir Chohan, Asif Majeed, Umar Aftab Dhilon, Tahir Randhawa, Zawar Warraich, Nazir Baloch and others.

Before leaving for the court, PTI workers and 25 members of Punjab Assembly had a huddle at Tareen House in Lahore.

The participants discussed the present situation with respect to cases made against ‘estranged’ PTI leader Jahangir Khan Tareen.

They expressed their complete solidarity with him, and vowed to fight till justice was done to their leader.

Tareen thanked members of his group for their support.
