Release of Rs3b funds for Punjab public schools halted

Punjab School Education Department Saturday stopped the release of Rs3 billion non-salary budget for the schools across the province including Rs10.52 million for 1,119 schools located in provincial capital Lahore, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The budget was supposed to be released on April 1st and the fiscal year is about to end in a month.
The hindrance in issuance of the funds leads to closing of development projects in public schools.
However, Punjab School Education Department said that funds will be released soon.
