Federal Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb said on Wednesday that the people would soon hear good news about further reduction in electricity prices, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Addressing a seminar in Karachi, he said the government had taken steps for an improvement in the power sector.

He said it was the government’s desire to make the system easier for the taxpayers. “But at the same time, I must make it clear that each and every sector will have to pay taxes.”

The minister informed that the government was introducing reforms in the tax authority.

Informing about his visit to the USA, he said that he had fruitful discussions with his counterparts from different countries as well as heads of different companies.

Aurangzeb further said that the current account deficit was coming down by the day, while a marked reduction in the policy rate had also been witnessed. “The policy rate has come down by 1,000 points.”

He went on to say the government was committed to saying adieu to the IMF after the current programme.
