NAB transfers 6,500 kanals of amenity land in private housing societies to CDA 

Under its effective strategy and reform agenda, NAB has successfully transferred more than 6,500 kanals of amenity and public space land in Islamabad and Rawalpindi to the name of CDA, which is being described as a significant step towards protecting civic amenities and restoring public rights. 

According to sources, in a high-level meeting held last week, NAB decided the immediate transfer of important land within the legal framework. Under the supervision of DG NAB Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Waqar Ahmed Chohan and senior NAB officers, the process of transferring this land was finalized. 

In the first phase, 5,484.76 kanals of Gulberg Residency and 999 kanals of Margalla View D-17 were transferred to CDA and in this regard, the registered transfer ceremony was held at NAB Islamabad/Rawalpindi office. 

The land transfer cases of other societies have also entered the phased completion stage. 

According to detail, the total value of the land transferred is Rs 41 billion as per DC rate, while the market value of the public area is said to be Rs 25.43 billion. Similarly, a total of Rs 66 billion worth of land has been transferred to the name of CDA and in the next few weeks, about 4500 kanals of land of other societies will be transferred to the name of CDA. 

According to the law, the transfer of land to the regulator after registration is also required so that the transfer of property cannot take place illegally in the future. According to the details, about 4793 kanals of public and amenity land of various housing societies have been transferred to the regulator, which were pending for the last several years. For example, the transfer of Civilian Employees Housing Society was pending for about 31 years and the transfer of land was registered thanks to the current NAB investigation. 

This land was earmarked for parks, educational institutions, health centers and other public facilities, however, due to delays and irregularities, in many instances it was being misused through China cutting and other measures. The present initiative has not only secured these lands but will also ensure that they are put to public use for their original purpose. DG NAB said that this process will be launched in the entire country.
