Punjab CM announces Rs23b development projects for South Punjab's Katcha areas

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has announced development projects worth Rs23 billion for South Punjab's Katcha areas, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Chairing a special meeting in Lahore on Thursday, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz also announced launching of “Apna Khet, Apna Rozgar” in Katcha area.

Maryam Nawaz Sharif ordered to give 14,500 acres of government land to the people of Katcha.

Under Katcha Area Development Programme, schools, hospitals, roads and bridges will be built with Rs23 billion.

Maryam Nawaz ordered to arrange transport and clinics on wheels for Katcha people. A mobile veterinary hospital and lab will also be provided on the instructions of the chief minister.

The meeting was briefed that for the first time, modern solar energy-powered drone surveillance will start in Katcha area.

The latest drones are capable of flying in the air for more than 24 hours.

Surveillance cameras will also be installed in the latest APCs and police vans.

Katcha Safe City monitoring will also be carried out in police stations and check posts in the areas of Katcha. 

Rs7.1 billion will be spent on law and order in Katcha, Rs13.9 billion on social infrastructure and Rs1.7 billion on other issues. 

As many as 6551 female students in Katcha area will receive milk packs in schools. 

Moreover, 300 students will get Honhar scholarships and 300 will get laptops. 

108 km long soling and 144 km long roads will be completed in Kacha while 65 schools in Katcha will also be constructed, renovated and upgraded while 16 new schools and two girls' colleges will also be built in Kacha. 

The meeting approved to start the exemplary village project in Kacha area and sewage, drainage and sports projects will also be started. Skills projects will also be started in Kacha at a cost of Rs125 million. 

NADRA registration has also started in Kacha area, computerized identity cards will be issued and farms will be built.

The meeting gave approval of hard area allowance for officials and officers on duty in Kacha.

The meeting also gave approval of plan for return of illegal weapons for Kacha area.

Digital monitoring of return of weapons will be done in the concerned police station and money will be given according to the usefulness of the weapon.

The meeting banned planting tall plants on the sides of the main roads of Kacha.

Maryam Nawaz said that development and prosperity are the rights of every person in Kacha like other people of Punjab. 

By developing Kacha, we will make it a safe, ideal and excellent area, Maryam Nawaz said.

She said now Kacha will develop and the people of Kacha will be prosperous and earn a respectable living.
