JI announces nationwide strike on Sept 2 against inflated electricity bills
Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Ameer Siraj Ul Haq has announced a nationwide strike against the exorbitant electricity bills on September 2 (Saturday), reported the 24NewsHD TV channel.
In a video message that went viral on social media, Siraj Ul Haq thanked trader associations, the business community, students, lawyers, and others for making the campaign against the inflated power bills successful.
He said that Jamaat-e-Islami's shutter down strike would be peaceful. “There will be no encirclement and arson, he added.
Taking a jibe at the caretaker government, he said that it is not the duty of the caretaker government to increase electricity bills.
The task of caretaker government is to hold elections in 90 days, Siraj Ul Haque said, adding that the interim government should conduct elections and hand over the power to elected representatives.

JI Ameer appealed to the masses to make full preparations to make the strike successful for their rights.
He vowed that there would be a nationwide shutter down strike on Sept 2 against the irrational increase in electricity bills.
