Tobacco companies issued notices for violating anti-smoking rules

The Ministry of National Health has issued a notice to tobacco companies for violating the anti-smoking rules, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.
According to the spokesperson for the health ministry, different tobacco companies have been involved in the advertisement and promotion of smoking.
The health ministry sought a written explanation from the tobacco companies within 10 days and warned them of legal action in case of an unsatisfactory response.
Notices were issued to Philip Morris, Khyber Tobacco Company, Samsons Group, National Tobacco Company, Universal Tobacco Company, Civil Tobacco Company, Watan Tobacco Company, Royal Tobacco Company and Souvenir Tobacco Company.
“According to the anti-smoking laws, advertisement and promotion of schemes are prohibited, and violation may result in fine and imprisonment,” the health ministry spokesperson said.
“The government has been ensuring effective measures to prevent smoking. It has also been ensuring practical measures for the health and welfare of the people,” he added.
