More floods feared in Ravi River as India may release water from Thein Dam

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) on Saturday issued an alert about more flooding in the River Ravi as the Thein Dam in India was 92 per cent full, and the country could release water into the river at any moment, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
On the other hand, the Irrigation Department said that the water level at Jasarr in the river had again started rising as it had jumped from 75,000 cusecs to 85, 908 cusecs.
The PDMA said that after Jasarr, Shahdara and other low-lying areas could again be flooded.
The Authority added that keeping in view the fears of flooding, the irrigation department as well as the district administration had been put on a high alert.
