Four notorious dacoits killed in Peshawar police encounter

Four notorious dacoits were killed in a police encounter while two escaped in Peshawar, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.

According to police, Waqar, alias Major Gang, was active in organised crime for the past 15 years and was wanted to police of three provinces and Islamabad.

The gang's network is spread across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and its members were allegedly involved in several serious incidents in Punjab, Sindh and Islamabad and were also wanted.

The gang was headed by Waqar alias Major, a resident of Peshawar. The gang members had been nominated and arrested more than a dozen times in various cases.

The gang allegedly used uniforms and equipment similar to those of security forces, wireless and other communication devices, Wi-Fi jammers and modern weapons.

According to police records and available information, the gang has been linked to several major incidents, including the Hayatabad robbery of about Rs8 million in Yakatut, Peshawar; robbery of about Rs20 million in Chamkani; alleged fraud of about Rs60 million from the son of a senior government official in District Dir; incident of about Rs50 million; dacoity of about Rs80 million in Swat; robbery of about Rs80 million in DHA Karachi; robbery of about Rs100 million in Raja Bazar, Rawalpindi; incident of snatching a vehicle in Malakand; alleged robbery at the house of MPA Khalid Sargana in Jhang; dacoity at the house of a foreign national in Faisalabad; and an alleged robbery at the house of a member of the provincial assembly in Sindh, in which about 167 tolas of gold were reported to have been looted.
