Indian wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant was seriously wounded when his car crashed into a divider on the Narsan border of Roorkee, close to Hammadpur Jhal, on the way from Delhi to Roorkee Friday, reported Indian media.

Rishabh Pant has been admitted to the Max Hospital in Dehradun, according to Haridwar SP (Rural), Swapan Kishore. "Cricketer Rishabh Pant's car met with an accident between Manglaur and Narsan in Haridwar district. He has been shifted to Max Hospital Dehradun after giving primary treatment at Roorkee Civil Hospital. The accident took place on NH-58 of Manglaur PS area," Haridwar SP (Rural)

Pant, who was alone in the car, has suffered injuries on his back, forehead and leg. Pant was driving his car when he met with the accident on the Delhi-Dehradun highway.

According to photographs from the site, the car was seen in a badly burnt condition. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami tweeted in Hindi," Praying for the speedy recovery of cricketer Rishabh Pant, who was injured in a vehicle accident, have directed the officials to ensure all possible arrangements for his treatment."

The IPL franchise of Rishabh Pant has confirmed the 25-year-old has been injured in a serious car accident. Pant crashed between Mangalaur and Nursan, close to his hometown of Roorkee in the northern state of Uttarakhand.

The cricketer was driving alone in his Mercedes GLE when it hit the divider railings of the Delhi-Haridwar highway around 5.30am, with Pant was pulled from the wreckage and “rushed to a nearby hospital from where he was referred to a major hospital in Dehradun”.

Images of the accident site, and the cricketer in hospital, have been shared widely on social media.

VVS Laxman, the chief of India’s National Cricket Academy, noted on Twitter that Pant “is out of danger”.

One of the most exciting batters in international cricket, Pant was last in action for India on Christmas Day when he helped his side to victory over Bangladesh in Mirpur, top-scoring with 93 in India’s first innings.

Pant was not named in India’s upcoming T20 and ODI series against Sri Lanka, but was expected to feature prominently for the Test team when Australia arrive in February for a four-Test series.

He was recently selected by Guardian cricket writers in their team of 2022.

Meanwhile, Bollywood actress Urvashi Rautela posted a cryptic photo wearing a white dress with the caption," Praying". She also added a white heart and a white pigeon in the caption.
