SBP announces Bank Holiday on Monday, Jan 2, 2023

The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has announced a bank holiday in Pakistan on Monday (Jan 2) in order to year-end closing of accounts, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The SBP and all private banks will remain closed for public dealing on Jan 2, which will be observed as a “Bank Holiday”. A notification issued by the central bank states, “All banks / DFIs / MFBs shall, therefore, remain closed for public dealing on the aforementioned date”.
However, of the banks / Development Finance Institutions (DFIs), and Micro Finance Banks (MFBs) will attend the office as usual, the State Bank of Pakistan added.
It is pertinent to mention that SBP usually announces a bank holiday in Pakistan on the 1st of January every year, but since it is landing on a Sunday, the bank holiday this year will be observed on 2 January 2023.
