Netizens brand influencer as ‘homewrecker’
Influencer Nyla Rajah has found herself at the centre of a social media storm after cricketer Imad Wasim confirmed his breakup with Sannia Ashfaq.
The cricketer confirmed on December 28 that he and his wife had officially divorced after more than six years of marriage, sparking widespread discussion across social media and news outlets.
As Nyla shared promotional content on her Instagram, the comment section quickly turned volatile. Some users posted harsh religious condemnations and explicit curses, accusing Nyla of being a “homewrecker.”
One comment, which garnered thousands of likes, went as far as praying for lifelong misery and divine punishment, claiming she was responsible for “breaking a happy family.”
Dozens of replies echoed the sentiment with repeated “Ameen” responses, amplifying the outrage and turning the post into what many observers described as a digital pile-on.
Several commenters cited alleged sightings of Nyla with Imad abroad and claimed that Sannia Ashfaq had “liked” posts linking Nyla to past relationship controversies, arguments presented as “proof” by critics.
However, amid the vitriol, a strong counter-narrative also emerged. Some users called out the online harassment, warning against provoking someone to self-harm and stressing that the allegations circulating online remain unverified.
One user urged restraint, writing that wishing death upon someone over rumours was “inhumane” and that misunderstandings often destroy lives faster than facts.
Others shifted the focus away from Nyla entirely, arguing that if infidelity occurred, responsibility should rest primarily with the married partner. Several commenters highlighted the double standards in public shaming, noting that men are rarely subjected to the same level of abuse when similar allegations surface.
Defenders of Nyla also questioned the obsession with her personal life, asking why critics continued to “camp under her posts” if they disliked her so strongly. One lengthy response criticised anonymous accounts for spreading hate while hiding behind fake profiles, calling the attacks “cruelty disguised as moral outrage.”
The debate further intensified as users argued over the legality of Imad Wasim’s divorce, with some insisting that until matters are settled in court, dragging a third party into the controversy is unjustified. As of now, neither Imad Wasim nor Nyla Rajah has confirmed any romantic relationship, and no concrete evidence has been made public.
However, in response to a netizen’s question, Nyla Rajah said that the claims were nothing more than baseless allegations, adding that no proof or evidence had ever been provided. She categorically denied the rumours, labelling them as a mere “attention-seeking” trick.
The controversy first broke in July 2025 when Imad’s wife, Sania Ashfaque, gave birth to their newborn child. Her emotional post on social media highlighted that her husband was absent at the birth, sparking widespread concern among fans.
At the same time, influencer Nyla Raja had been posting multiple photos with Imad, which fueled cheating rumours online. Sania then deleted all her pictures with Imad from Instagram and removed “Wifey to Imad Wasim” from her profile.
The issue escalated further when a viral video appeared online allegedly showing Imad with a woman in London. Many speculated that the woman in the video was Nyla Raja, though she later publicly denied those claims.
Adding more fuel, actress Ammara Chaudhary, a close friend of Sania, lashed out at Nyla in strong words. She wrote that missing the birth of his child was shameful, especially while being seen with another woman abroad.
Ammara mocked Nyla’s defence of their meeting, saying it would only make sense if it were Babar Azam. She criticised Imad for letting his wife face the birth alone while making time for other women.
Ammara wrote: “It would have made sense if it were a fan moment with Babar Azam or Shahid Afridi, but a fan moment with a person who didn’t even perform well for Pakistan? No, bro. It did not look random at all. The number on your jersey was randomly copied as well? Ok.
“Alright, no one is going to say that this isn’t looking random. PS Shame on him because he had time for b*****s but no time to see his newborn son and be present for the first azaan.”
“My friend did it all alone. B***t.”
In a following story, she added: “Yeah, yeah, you think people are dumb. You were there just to get sunglasses, and on Snapchat, you were teaching him ‘Ayat-ul-Kursi’? Budhi (Old) b***h.”
Her posts quickly gained attention, with fans debating whether the cricketer was unfairly maligned or genuinely at fault. Rajah later responded strongly, threatening legal action against Sania Ashfaque and Ammara Chaudhary for defamation and malicious allegations.
In an Instagram story, Nyla shared a screenshot linked to PSL events, clarifying her official involvement with organisers. She wrote that she was invited for promotional purposes only and had no ulterior motives behind attending the tournament. She stressed she even deleted her promotional post to avoid adding unnecessary fuel to the ongoing situation.
She warned that defaming people publicly has consequences and revealed that lawyers were preparing a summons against those involved.
