Police foil major fireworks supply ahead of New Year in Lahore

A major attempt to supply fireworks ahead of New Year celebrations in Lahore was foiled by the police on Tuesday, recovering a large cache of illegal pyrotechnic material and arresting a suspect during an operation.

According to police, the operation was carried out by the SHO Model Town along with his team, who intercepted and arrested the suspect, identified as Adil.

The accused was transporting fireworks from Town Ship to the inner city for distribution on New Year’s night.

During interrogation, the suspect confessed that he used to receive online orders and supply fireworks to various areas across Lahore.

Police recovered fireworks worth hundreds of thousands of rupees from his possession and registered a case against him.

Meanwhile, SP Model Town appealed to the public to avoid fireworks and urged citizens not to allow their premises to be used for fireworks activities, stressing that such actions pose serious risks to public safety.
