A new snow-and-rain-bearing system has entered the country which has brought showers in the plain areas while hilly areas are receiving snow, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.

Rain poured down in plain areas including Lahore, Faisalabad, Wazirabad and Jhelum. The skies in Lahore are still overcast and the metrological department has predicted rain with thunder for the next 24 hours.

The minimum temperature in Lahore was recorded 8 degree Celsius while maximum temperature would remain 17 degree Celsius. 

On the other hand, the heavy snowfall in Murree, Rawalakot and many hilly areas in Azad Kashmir and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has disrupted daily life.

The heavy snowfall has covered the tourist resorts, Kaghan, Naran and Shogran in Mansehra with a sheet of white. The local as well as foreign tourists are heading to these places to amuse themselves with the beautiful views of nature. 

The plain areas of district Jhelum Valley Upper Hatian in AJK including Chinari, Chakothi, Nogran, Siran Dhani and Nidol Neeli received snow after a gap of 10 years. 

When people woke up this morning, they were pleasantly surprised to see their surroundings all covered in white. 

Rawalakot and surrounding areas also received snow which led to the closure of several highways. The district administration kept busy in removing snow all night and it restored traffic on Shahre Ghazi Millat and other thoroughfares. 

The Metrological Department on Monday predicted rain with strong winds and thundershowers and snowfall over mountains in Islamabad, Potohar region, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan and Upper Punjab. 

The weather in the last 24 hours was cloudy in most parts of the country, while North Balochistan, North East Punjab, Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit Baltistan received rain and snow. 

Rain in mm: Darosh 09, Para Chinar 02, Gilgit-Baltistan: Kalat 12, Gopus 04, Balochistan: Dalbandin 03, Quetta (Samingli 03, Sheikh Manda 02), Panjgur 01, Punjab: Lahore (Airport 02, City 01) and Faisalabad 01. 

Snowfall in inches: Kalam 06, Drosh 03, Ziarat 02, Chitral and Gops 01 inches of snowfall was recorded.

Minimum temperature recorded today: Leh minus 13, Kalam, Parachinar minus 08, Malam Jabba minus 07, Astoor minus 05, Skardu, Bagrot minus 04, Chitral, Drosh, Mirkhani, Zhob minus 03 and Deer recorded minus 02 degrees Celsius.
