Pakistan reports over 1,100 new Covid-19 cases

Pakistan recorded 1,114 new coronavirus infections during the past 24 hours (Wednesday), raising the overall number to 277,402, the latest data updated by National Command and Operation Centre on Thursday morning shows.
Meanwhile, the death toll caused by the coronavirus pandemic increased to 5,924 after another 32 people died of the infection.
The official figures show that 246,131 people have so far fully recovered from the coronavirus infection while the number of active cases currently stands at 25,347.
Of these active cases, 1,179 patients are in critical condition and being treated in the intensive care units of different hospitals across the country.
As far as the testing is concerned, the overall number has now reached 1,952,730 as 21,628 people were tested for the virus on Wednesday.
On the other hand, most of the coronavirus cases have been recorded in Sindh where the number currently stands at 120,052. Also, the death of 2,189 people is caused by the virus.
In Punjab, the number of reported cases is 92,655 along with 2,138 deaths. The figures for the other provinces and regions are: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 33,845 cases and 1,192 deaths, Islamabad 14,987 cases and 165 deaths, Balochistan 11,708 cases and 136 deaths, Gilgit-Baltistan 2,090 cases and 53 deaths, and Azad Kashmir 2,065 cases and 51 deaths.
