A court in Islamabad on Saturday accepted the bail applications of former prime minister and PTI Chairman Imran Khan in 10 cases of vandalism during the party’s long march, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Imran appeared in the court in connection with the hearing of his bail applications.

His counsel Dr Babar Awan said that 15 cases of similar nature had been registered against the former prime minister.  “I pray to the court to grant bails to my client,” he added.

The judge asked the prosecutor whether he has any objection to the bail applications.

When the court asked whether any institution has become petitioner against Imran Khan, Babar Awan said a private lawyer has become petitioner in cases against Imran Khan.

After hearing the arguments, the judge granted bail to Imran Khan in 10 cases.

The PTI chairman was asked to submit surety bonds of Rs5,000 in each case.

Imran was separately granted an interim bail in yet another case in lieu of a surety bond of Rs5,000.

In another case of Imran Khan’s bail, notices were issued today.

It is reminded here that there were 16 cases registered against Imran Khan in police stations of Islamabad and the court had already accepted his bail applications in five other similar cases.

The judge directed the police to produce the case record on September 8.

Earlier in the day, Imran Khan filed in the court an application for one-day exemption from appearance in the case of damaging public property during the party’s long march.

Dr Babar Awan filed the application in which it was stated that his client could not appear in the court today due to some engagements. “Therefore, he be granted exemption from appearance in the court today,” read the petition.
