Shehbaz Sharif, Bill Gates discuss anti-polio campaign over phone

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Bill Gates had a telephonic talk about the public healthcare projects funded by the US businessman’s foundation.

According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, the premier heaped praise on Bill Gates for his foundation's support to make Pakistan a polio-free state.

Shehbaz Sharif shared with Bill Gates the measures to cope with the challenges of the resurgence of polio cases.

The federal government is implementing a special emergency response plan in the southern districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to fight the crippling virus, he said, adding that the government stepped up the safety of polio workers

Bill Gates felt strong concerns for the vulnerable children and renewed his resolve to continue backing Pakistan for the cause. The duo also discussed measures to address malnutrition and stunting, and essential immunization services.
