Katy Perry sparks romance rumours with Canadian ex-PM Justin Trudeau

Katy Perry has ignited fresh romance speculation after being spotted on a dinner with former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in Montreal, just weeks after confirming her split from long-time partner Orlando Bloom.

According DailyOnline, a video showed the 40-year-old star was seen dining with Trudeau, 53, at Le Violon restaurant. Eyewitnesses claim the pair appeared 'comfortable and engaged', fueling rumours of a budding relationship.

Sources told TMZ that the evening began with a walk through a city park before the duo headed to dinner and then capped off the night with drinks at Montreal’s trendy Taverne Atlantic.

Perry, dressed in a chic black and white ensemble, reportedly turned heads as she laughed and chatted with the former leader. Trudeau, meanwhile, looked relaxed in a navy shirt and slacks, marking a rare public appearance since his political resignation earlier this year.

The outing comes amid personal upheaval for both celebrities. Perry recently ended her relationship with actor Orlando Bloom, with whom she shares a four-year-old daughter, Daisy. The couple, who got engaged in 2019 after dating since 2016, had faced growing speculation about their relationship status before confirming the breakup last month. Bloom even attended Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez’s wedding solo in Venice while Perry toured Australia.

An insider told Us Weekly that the split was amicable, adding, “Katy is, of course upset but relieved not to go through another divorce.” The singer was previously married to comedian Russell Brand from 2010 to 2012.

Trudeau, on the other hand, announced his separation from wife Sophie Grégoire in August 2023 after 18 years of marriage. The former couple shares three children—Xavier, Ella-Grace, and Hadrien. Trudeau resigned from office in January 2025 following mounting political tensions and internal disputes within his Liberal Party.

Both Perry and Trudeau are navigating career challenges as well. Perry’s latest album, 143, released in late 2024, was critically panned and labeled “AI-generated” by fans. Her Lifetimes Tour has been marred by accusations of copying other pop stars and lacklustre ticket sales. The backlash intensified following her much-criticised Blue Origin space trip in April, which reportedly sparked friction in her relationship with Bloom.

In the post-flight press conference, Perry was ridiculed for her over-the-top remarks, saying she felt “super connected to love” while holding a daisy in honour of her daughter.
