Shia Ulema Council’s delegation holds talks with Govt on zaireen issue

Shia Ulema Council of Pakistan’s delegation called on Federal Minister for Housing Riaz Hussain Pirzada and requested the government to review ban on Zaireen visit to Iraq by road on the eve of Arbaeen, reported 24NewsHD TV channel. 

During the meeting Shia Ulema Council told the government that thousands of pilgrims, who were going to Iran and Iraq by road on the eve of Arbaeen, had already obtained their visas, arranged transport and even hotels were also been booked therefore imposing ban on road travel at this time was causing worries among the zaireen. 

Shia Ulema Council urged the government to revisit its decision. During the meeting, the government minister and Shia scholars also discussed alternative routes and other proposals. 

On the occasion, federal minister assured the delegation that he will brief the federal cabinet, especially the Prime Minister, on this important issue of the Zaireen. Shia Council delegation comprised Allama Shabbir Maisami and Zahid Ali Akhunzada. 

Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM) yesterday announced a countrywide peaceful protest and sit-ins in response to the government’s ban on by-road travel for Arbaeen pilgrims, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel. 

Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, MWM chief Senator Allama Raja Nasir Abbas condemned the government’s move to block overland routes to Iran and Iraq during Arbaeen.
