Pakistan team’s head coach says players have started playing competitive cricket
Pakistan’s white ball team head coach Mike Hesson said on Thursday that the team had to prepare for the world cup; therefore, it had been decided to hold Champions Cup in Multan, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Speaking to the media, he said that the event would enable the team to know its strong points as well as its weaknesses.
The head coach said that keeping in view the world cup, players were being tested for different formats of the game according to their skills and talent.
Some of the cricketers, he added, were good finishers in white-ball format of the game.
“Abdus Sammad, Shadab Khan, Haider Ali and Farhan Yousaf are capable of winning matches for the team,” he said.
Hesson admitted that previously Pakistan lagged behind other teams in terms of competitive cricket. “However, now our team has changed,” the head coach said, adding that Pakistan had defeated strong teams such as South Africa, Australia and Sri Lanka.
He recalled that the team managed to qualify for the T20 World Cup 2026’s Super-8 stage. “However, we failed to reach the semis due to poor run rate,” he said.
