A special cargo plane of the US Air Force landed in Islamabad to transport some vehicles and other items of the American embassy and its staff members from Pakistan.

The plane, which arrived in the federal capital from Germany, will carry three luxury SUVs [Land Cruiser].

Earlier on Thursday last week, as many as 69 American diplomatic officials left Pakistan for Afghanistan in the wake of ever-spreading coronavirus cases.

Their departure from the country comes a few days after a batch of 75 US diplomats left for Georgia through a chartered flight.

According to an update available on the US embassy’s website, the US government has arranged a flight from Karachi and Islamabad on April 1 for the Americans stranded in Pakistan which “is now full”.

“If there are cancellations, we will contact additional travellers. We received more requests than we could accommodate and prioritized seats for those most at risk for COVID-19 complications,” it added.

“The US Mission in Pakistan continues to explore other possibilities for US citizens to depart Pakistan,” it read.
