A noted doctor and former director of health at KMC Dr Birbal has been assassinated near Lyari Expressway in Karachi.

He along with his assistant Quratul Ain was on his way to his clinic when they came under the attack.

Quratul Ain sustained injuries in the attack. The deceased retired from the government post 18 months ago. 

The Sindh government has taken notice of the incident and issued directives to bring to book the culprits at the earliest. 

SSP City Arif said the victim fell prey to target killing and the lawmen have launched a hunt for the culprits.
