Kim Novak calls Sydney Sweeney ‘Wrong’ for biopic role  

Hollywood icon Kim Novak has openly criticized the casting of Sydney Sweeney in an upcoming biopic based on her life, stating that the actress is “completely miscast” for the role. 

In a recent interview, the 93-year-old expressed strong reservations about the project, revealing she would never have given her approval for the film, titled Scandalous.

Novak also voiced concern about how her past relationship with legendary entertainer Sammy Davis Jr. might be portrayed on screen. She suggested the film could place unnecessary emphasis on the romantic and physical aspects of their bond, something she feels does not reflect the true nature of their connection.

The project, which has reportedly faced delays, is said to involve Colman Domingo as director, with British actor David Jonsson cast as Davis. While Sweeney previously shared her excitement about portraying Novak and described it as an honour, the veteran actress remains unconvinced, questioning both the casting choice and the film’s overall direction.

Novak has also previously objected to the title Scandalous, maintaining that her relationship with Davis was deeply meaningful rather than controversial. The two met in the late 1950s and formed a close bond, but their romance faced intense societal pressure after it became public, reflecting the racial tensions of that era.

Her candid remarks have now sparked conversation across the entertainment industry, drawing attention to the challenges of portraying real-life figures on screen especially when those figures are still able to share their own perspective.
