Verdict in Ali Zafar’s defamation case against Meesha Shafi likely tomorrow

A local court in Lahore on Monday adjourned proceedings in the defamation case filed by Ali Zafar against Meesha Shafi, stating that the record of the case will be reviewed before announcing the verdict.

Additional Sessions Judge Asif Hayat, who is presiding over the case, said the court will examine all records in detail prior to issuing a decision.

He added that if the judgment is completed during court hours on Tuesday, the verdict will be announced the same day.

The judge noted that in case the decision is not finalized, a new date for the verdict will be announced.

During Monday’s hearing, lawyers representing both parties presented their arguments and assisted the court.

The case dates back to 2018, when Ali Zafar filed a defamation suit seeking Rs100 crore in damages against Meesha Shafi after she accused him of harassment.

The court adjourned further hearing until Tuesday.
