Woman allegedly gang-raped in Rawalpindi
Rawalpindi police have registered a case against four men for allegedly gang raping a woman inside a moving vehicle in the city, 24NewsHD TV reported on Monday.
The police officials said the case was filed at the Rawat police station following a complaint lodged by the survivor’s mother.
According to the first information report (FIR), the woman had boarded a van in her village to travel to Rawat Bazaar when the conductor allegedly shut the door and diverted the vehicle toward Chak Beli Road.
The complaint alleged that four men sexually assaulted the woman inside the moving vehicle and recorded videos of the attack.
The FIR also named the woman’s mother-in-law and sister-in-law as participants in the alleged planning of the assault.
The report further stated that the suspects threatened to release the videos online and harm the woman if she spoke about the incident.
The FIR added that a local village jirga reportedly discouraged the family from pursuing legal action against the accused.
Police said the investigation was underway.
