May 30, 2022 11:47 AM

According to unofficial results 1,456 independent candidates won their seats in the local bodies’ (LBs) elections held in Balochistan yesterday (Sunday, May 29, 2022), reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.

As far as political parties are considered, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) remained on top followed by the ruling Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) and
Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PKMAP), which remained on the third position.

JUI-F grabbed clinched 14 seats of the corporation, 57 of the municipal committees and 185 of the union councils, which took the total number of seats won by the party’s candidates to 256.

JUI-F was followed by BAP whose candidates won on 213 seats, while PKMAP had 95 seats to its credit.

Former Balochistan chief minister Dr. Abdul Malik’s National Party won 93 seats while Balochistan National Party (Mengal) candidates won on 78 seats.

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) remained on the sixth position with 58 seats to its credit. It was followed by Balochistan National Party-Awami (BNP-Awami) which won 43 seats.

Awami National Party (ANP) with 24 seats stood at the eighth position. The party was immediately followed by Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) with 23 seats.

Jamhoori Watan Party won 18, while Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz managed to win 16 seats.

PPP’s reasonably good performance in the Balochistan LBs’ polls led Faryal Talpur, party MPA and sister of former president Asif Ali Zardari, to say that the people of Balochistan had given their verdict in the favour of PPP.

Taking to twitter, she went on to claim that over 120 candidates of the party had won their elections so far. “Of these, 50 were elected unopposed,” she said, adding, “And we are leading in six districts of the province, including Khuzdar and Jaafarabad, by a wide margin.”  https://mobile.twitter.com/FaryalTalpurP/status/1530986531950841863?cxt=HHwWjsCyjfWIlL8qAAAA
